It’s a city where a 5 year old boy and an 86 year old grandmother will be wearing the same Boston Red Sox hat on the T and asking the same question each and every morning- how did the Sox do last night? Baseball is not just another sport in Boston, it’s part of the culture…it is Boston. That “Fever Pitch” movie was no joke. Just get used to it and leave your opposing team jerseys at home unless you want to get hit in the head with a bottle. Seriously, especially you Yankees fans.

Boston is a great city that blends its future into its storied Boston Tea Party past. Walk The Freedom Trail to step back in time for some Revolutionary history. And then you have the cosmopolitan new architecture right next to Paul Revere. Think charming New England with those lovely brownstones.

Faneuil Hall is a must. Explore the North End for “to die for” Italian…just like grandma makes.

To really see the city, take a walking tour of Boston down the Freedom Trail. As America’s first walking tour, it is the perfect introduction to Colonial America and Revolutionary Boston. The trail takes visitors to sixteen different historical sites and covers two and a half centuries of America’s history. A red brick or painted line connects the sites on the Trail and can be used to direct tourists on a self-guided tour. Guided tours are available as well.

Faneuil Marketplace is a Boston must-see. It is four great places in one: Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, North Market and South Market, all set around a cobblestone promenade where jugglers, musicians and magicians entertain visitors. This location is a place to shop, eat, stroll, wander, wonder and laugh.

A Boston tradition is taking a ride on the Swan Boats. Open seven days a week from mid-April until the end of September, weather permitting, the Swan Boat drivers paddle passengers around the Public Garden Lagoon for a 15 minute peaceful cruise. Hop on board a Swan, a Boston tradition since 1877.
